A general litigation lawyer, Doug Foster has been practicing law for more than a decade and has spent the last four years practicing with Harris Shelton in the Oxford office. He is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eastern District of Michigan. Mr. Foster has managed first- and third-party litigation for large insurance companies, as well as individual clients, in both state and federal courts, and he was extensively involved with the defense of insurance companies following the devastation from Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His clients have included insurance companies, local businesses, chemical companies and individuals.
With a passion for helping others, Mr. Foster spends time tutoring law school graduates and teaching bar preparation courses to prime them for the Mississippi bar exam. He also serves as a Sunday school teacher at North Oxford Baptist Church and as an active participant for More Than A Meal, a program that provides meals and informational health services to the surrounding Oxford community. He is a member and past vice chairman for the Lafayette County (Mississippi) Republican Executive Committee.
Outside of Harris Shelton and his community service, he spends his time with his wife, Jillian, and his children, Autry and Jane Franklin. His personal interests include running, biking, golfing, reading and sharing his faith with others.
