Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh PLLC has a long, rich history representing local municipalities and state government.
General representation of smaller municipalities consists of facilitating regular ongoing governmental activities, including zoning, subdivision and land development, infrastructure development, enactment of ordinances and resolutions, annexations, environmental issues, employment and personnel issues, governmental pension plans and interaction, and agreements with other governmental entities.
In addition to the firm's general representation of a number of municipalities, members of Harris Shelton provide defense counsel to a number of West Tennessee municipalities in lawsuits involving challenges to annexation, zoning and subdivision regulation, civil rights matters, motor vehicle accidents and other tort claims, employment discrimination claims, and contract and development matters.
Representation of other government entities is provided on a more specialized basis, as members of Harris Shelton serve on local government staffs in various roles.
The firm also represents Shelby County with respect to governmental pension plans, as well as collective bargaining with various bargaining units, employment discrimination cases, Governmental Tort Liability Act cases, employment discrimination cases, condemnation matters and specialized litigation, among other things.
